went to the 2nd last leg of her shanghai tour yesterday without any expectations. just want to watch her again after so many years. despite all the write-ups about her 'out-of tune' singing in her opening show in beijing, it was really a blast yesterday. when i said 'a blast', it didn't mean audiences jumping around or dancing to the tunes...not in faye's concert.
most of the crowd are around my age, ya...people who grew up listening to her and everyone were very well behaved. audiences remained seated throughout the night, enjoying all the familiar tunes and admiring the fantastic stage & lights. make-ups and wardrobes were very very beautiful...very faye but just with a touch of maturity. she looked the same, aging very very gracefully...
it has been a while really...the last time i watched her was 5 years back in shanghai. she was still jumping around barefoot then. no more cranberries or cocteau twins resemblances, it is just her...the diva that we've all known and familiar with. came out on time, go straight into her songs, 3 times of 'thank you', leave the stage on time...2 hours of full blast entertainment, no mushy speeches or tears or anything like that.
